New malformation syndrome in Ohio Amish found

A new syndrome with facial, skeletal and CNS abnormalities has been found among 11 Amish individuals in northeastern Ohio. A homozygous mutation in the TMCO1 gene on chromosome 1 seems to be responsible for this presumed autosomal recessive disorder. PubMed ID: 20018682
